About the Role
**About The Company**
The Bitcoin Street Journal operates in the blockchain sector, where secure, reliable technology is essential to the development of digital assets and institutional blockchain applications. The company is seeking an experienced engineer to help build foundational Web3 platform services that support tokenization, transaction processing, and connectivity across public and permissioned blockchain networks. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to systems designed for complex workflows, high-value transactions, and evolving enterprise requirements.
**About The Role**
Based in Southlake, Texas, this position focuses on designing and delivering reusable backend services and integrations for blockchain applications. You will work across blockchain connectivity, smart contracts, institutional wallets, custody and signing platforms, transaction orchestration, and token lifecycle management. The role calls for an engineer who can take complex technical challenges from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, and production operations. You will collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver dependable services that can support multiple networks and business workflows.
**Qualifications**
Applicants should have at least five years of software engineering experience building distributed systems, backend platforms, financial technology, blockchain infrastructure, custody platforms, trading systems, or high-scale transaction services. Strong hands-on Web3 experience and a thorough understanding of Ethereum and EVM concepts are required, including smart contracts, ABI encoding, transaction lifecycles, gas and fees, nonce management, events, confirmations, and finality.
Candidates should have experience integrating backend services with blockchain nodes, wallets, smart contracts, signing systems, or custody platforms. Familiarity with JSON-RPC, WebSocket subscriptions, event indexing, transaction monitoring, and blockchain data models is important. Strong knowledge of wallet infrastructure, address management, transaction signing, custody, and key-management patterns is also expected. You should be proficient in at least one backend language, such as Java, Go, Kotlin, TypeScript, Rust, Python, or C++, and have experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, messaging systems, cloud-native development, and production operations. The ability to independently own complex engineering work is essential.
Experience with Hyperledger Besu, permissioned EVM networks, Canton, Daml, validator or participant concepts, or DAR deployment is advantageous. Additional strengths include smart-contract security, audits, fuzzing, invariant testing, static analysis, formal verification, blockchain indexing, custody integrations, token lifecycle platforms, and wallet-policy engines. Familiarity with ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155, ERC-1400, ERC-3643, or other permissioned-token frameworks is a plus, as is experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
**Responsibilities**
Design, build, and maintain reusable services for tokenization, transaction processing, blockchain connectivity, wallet integration, event ingestion, indexing, and token lifecycle management. Develop common abstraction layers for networks including Besu, Canton, Ethereum and other EVM chains, Layer 2 networks, and permissioned platforms. Implement node and smart-contract connectivity using JSON-RPC, WebSockets, ABI encoding and decoding, event logs, transaction submission, status tracking, and contract queries.
Integrate institutional wallet, custody, signing, and authorization systems. Create transaction workflows for request validation, policy checks, approval routing, signing, submission, confirmation tracking, retries, exception handling, and audit logging. Support account registration, transaction limits, allowlists, and approval controls. Design and review smart contracts for tokenized assets and programmable workflows, applying appropriate access controls, upgrade and proxy patterns, testing practices, security reviews, deployment standards, and rollback planning. Collaborate with platform and operations teams on Canton connectivity and validator strategies, and support Daml application packaging, versioning, installation validation, and enablement.
**Benefits**
This position provides the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems at the intersection of blockchain, financial workflows, and enterprise technology. You will work with a broad range of networks and platform components while contributing to production systems and engineering standards. Details about compensation, benefits, and other employment terms will be shared during the hiring process.
Equal Opportunity
The Bitcoin Street Journal is committed to fair and inclusive hiring. Employment decisions are made without unlawful discrimination and are based on role-related qualifications, experience, and business needs. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
