About the Role
This role is for someone who can build secure distributed systems without turning the product into crypto theater.
**The mission (what you’ll actually do)**
You will own the blockchain layer: architecture, implementation, security, and integration with the City OS.
You will:
- Design and implement smart-contract / ledger components that support rewards and tokenized flows.
- Build a secure integration layer between web2 systems (apps, ops tools) and decentralized primitives.
- Define wallet/key management approaches that are safe, recoverable, and user-friendly.
- Own security reviews, threat modeling, and incident readiness for the chain layer.
- Partner with legal/compliance and product to ensure feasibility and survivability.
**Profile we’re looking for (non-negotiables)**
- 7–12+ years engineering, with serious depth in distributed systems and security.
- Proven blockchain engineering experience in production (not prototypes only).
- Strong cryptography instincts: threat models, key management, smart contract safety.
- Pragmatic mindset: builds what is needed, avoids complexity as a reflex.
**What you’ll build in your first 90 days**
- A chain architecture and threat model aligned to Elysium’s real flows.
- MVP contracts/integrations with a clean upgrade and governance story.
- Operational guardrails: monitoring, alerts, runbooks, recovery plans.
- A clear spec for tokenized flows that product and engineering can execute on.
