Lead Engineer (Future CTO) – Web3 & Blockchain Pla

About the Role We are looking for an exceptional **Lead Engineer** to join our team and take ownership of an established Web3 platform. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to build, lead, and shape the future of a fast-growing technology company. The platform has already been developed by an external engineering team and is currently live. Your primary responsibility will be to take complete ownership of the existing technology, evaluate and improve the architecture, strengthen security, build an internal engineering team, and lead the transition from an outsourced development model to a fully in-house engineering organization. This role is designed for someone who wants to become a **Chief Technology Officer (CTO)**. As the company grows, you will play a key role in defining the long-term technology strategy and leading all engineering functions. We are looking for a builder, a problem solver, and a technical leader—not someone who simply manages developers. What You'll Do - Take complete ownership of the existing codebase and platform architecture. - Perform a comprehensive review of the current system, identifying opportunities to improve security, scalability, maintainability, and performance. - Lead the migration from an outsourced development model to a fully in-house engineering team. - Design and implement scalable backend services and modern cloud infrastructure. - Own mobile applications, backend systems, APIs, blockchain integrations, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines. - Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team. - Establish engineering standards, code review processes, testing strategies, documentation, and CI/CD pipelines. - Work closely with founders to define product architecture, technical roadmap, and long-term technology strategy. - Drive innovation by evaluating new blockchain technologies and implementing best engineering practices. - Ensure the platform is secure, scalable, reliable, and ready for international growth. Required Technical Experience The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in the following areas: Blockchain & Web3 - Non-custodial wallet architecture - Multi-chain blockchain infrastructure - Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains - Bitcoin and Solana (preferred) - WalletConnect - Smart contract interaction - Cross-chain technologies - Transaction signing - Blockchain security - Account Abstraction - MPC Wallets (preferred) Wallet Security - BIP32 / BIP39 / BIP44 - Secure Enclave - Android Keystore - Private key management - Cryptography fundamentals - Secure authentication - Threat modelling - Wallet recovery mechanisms Backend Development - Node.js - TypeScript - Go or Rust (preferred) - REST APIs - GraphQL - PostgreSQL - MongoDB - Redis - Microservices Architecture Cloud & DevOps - AWS - Docker - Kubernetes - Terraform - CI/CD - Monitoring & Logging - High Availability Systems - Infrastructure Security Mobile Development - React Native or Flutter - Mobile security best practices - Performance optimization - Secure application architecture Leadership Experience We're looking for someone who has: - 8+ years of software engineering experience. - Experience leading engineering teams. - Experience owning production systems. - Experience reviewing software architecture. - Experience hiring and mentoring engineers. - Strong communication and leadership skills. - The ability to make strategic technical decisions while remaining hands-on. Experience working within blockchain, Web3, fintech, or high-growth technology companies is highly desirable. What Success Looks Like Within your first six months you will: - Complete a full technical and security audit of the existing platform. - Take complete ownership of the codebase. - Establish engineering processes and best practices. - Build the foundation of the internal engineering team. - Improve platform architecture, performance, and security. - Reduce technical debt and create a clear long-term engineering roadmap. - Become the primary technical decision-maker within the company.
