Web3 Tech Lead (Remote)

Our is a **Web3-enabled digital car marketplace** currently in the **MVP completion stage** . The platform includes: - **Frontend:** React + Vite + TypeScript + Tailwind + shadcn/ui - **Backend:** Fastify + TypeScript + JWT authentication + Zod validation - **Web3 direction:** Wallet connectivity, escrow-style purchase flow, tokenized listing metadata, and multi-network support across an Ethereum/Polygon/testnet path. **Role Overview** As the **Team Lead** , you will run the engineering squad through **planning, implementation, and release** . You will set sprint goals, unblock engineers, maintain code review and quality standards, and keep the **frontend, backend, and Web3 workstreams** aligned with product milestones and client expectations. This role emphasizes **delivery leadership and people management** . Deep architecture ownership may be shared with a **Technical Lead** where both roles exist. **Key Responsibilities** As a **Team Lead** , you will: - **Squad Leadership & Delivery** - Lead daily execution through **standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives** . - Assign clear ownership across frontend, backend, and Web3 tasks. - Remove blockers quickly and escalate risks before they affect milestones. - Track progress against MVP scope and communicate status to stakeholders. - **Cross-Track Coordination** - Coordinate dependencies between **UI, API, and on-chain work** , such as API readiness before frontend integration and contracts before live escrow. - Align engineering output with design and product priorities. - Ensure handoffs between contributors are smooth and well-documented. - **Quality & Engineering Standards** - Enforce **PR review practices, coding standards, and release readiness checks** . - Partner with leads on test coverage for critical user flows, including browse, authentication, wallet, and escrow. - Flag technical debt and scope creep while helping the team balance speed with maintainability. - **Mentoring & Team Health** - Mentor mid-level engineers and support onboarding and knowledge sharing. - Foster a constructive and accountable team culture focused on shipping. - Provide constructive feedback and help resolve technical disagreements within the squad. - **Stakeholder Communication** - Translate engineering progress into clear updates for **product, design, and client stakeholders** . - Represent the squad in planning sessions and milestone reviews. - Clarify what **"MVP done"** means and drive consensus on acceptance criteria. **Requirements** **Experience & Background** - 5+ years in software engineering. - At least 2+ years leading or managing an engineering squad as a **Team Lead, Engineering Manager, or equivalent** . - Hands-on experience shipping web products using **React/TypeScript and Node.js backends** . - Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering work. **Technical & Delivery Skills** - Strong understanding of **Agile delivery** , including: - Sprint planning - Backlog management - Estimation - Release cadence - Experience with **code review** and maintaining engineering quality standards. - Comfortable contributing hands-on implementation when needed to unblock the team. - Ability to coordinate dependencies across frontend, backend, and Web3 workstreams. **Leadership & Communication** - Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Ability to lead engineering squads through MVP and launch pressure. - Strong stakeholder management and delivery reporting skills. - Ability to handle blockers, scope changes, and cross-team conflicts. **Preferred Qualifications** - Experience in **marketplace, fintech, or transaction-heavy products** . - Familiarity with **Web3 product delivery** , including wallet UX and API + blockchain integration timelines. - Prior experience working in **remote or distributed teams with external clients** . - Exposure to **Fastify, JWT authentication flows, or similar API stacks** . - Experience partnering with a separate **Technical Lead or architect** on larger initiatives. **What Success Looks Like — First 90 Days** - The squad runs predictable sprints with **clear goals and visible progress** . - Frontend-backend integration milestones are delivered on schedule. - Code review and quality standards are consistently applied across the team. - Dependencies between frontend, backend, and Web3 tracks are proactively managed. - Stakeholders receive reliable status updates and realistic delivery forecasts. - Team morale and velocity improve without sacrificing **MVP quality** . **Collaboration Scope** You will work closely with: - **Frontend developers:** UI features, API integration, and performance. - **Backend developers:** API delivery, data persistence, and authentication. - **Web3/blockchain contributors:** Wallet flows and escrow rollout. - **Product & Design:** Scope, priorities, and acceptance criteria. - **Technical Lead / Architect:** Larger technical decisions, when present. - **Client stakeholders:** Milestone alignment and delivery reporting.
